As of today Camp Victory now belongs completely to the Iraqi government. The base that we built to house military leadership throughout the Iraqi war was turned over with no fan fare, no ceremony, just the signings of some paperwork similar to that of closing on a house.
The fact that we turned over base doesn't bother me. I would have just liked to see someone step up and do something for the men and women that sacrificed over there to make sure these people had the chance to be free and take this base over.
This also leads to another question, yes I know its quiet right now, but once we are completely gone and since everyone knows the exact date that will happen will it stay that way? Or in Obamas haste to fulfill at least one campaign promise to his base he ended this to early?
