I write this as being from LA originally I try to keep up with the goings on there. When one thinks about the type of Republican that should be coming from the State of Louisiana one thinks of the type of Senator that Ted Cruz is, or the type of Congressman Trey Gowdy is. Meaning they obviously have no interest in being someone's friend or following GOP "leadership" just to get along.

Chuck Schumer says the Tea party is dead.. again



A breath of fresh advice and prognostication from the man more in tune with the Tea Party than possibly anyone in the country. Chuck Schumer has come out and saved us from ourselves. He has let us know that the Tea Party movement has peaked, and that the upcoming Republican caucus will be less terrorist like.

McConnell got with Reid and gave away the farm, while Boehner is making sure that the House passes the bill with Dem votes first to prevent a filibuster from Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. If you think this wasn't always the plan you've lost your mind.

Shocking Inusrance companies leaving Nebraska Exchanges



In a move that will surprise no one, well maybe the White House and Nancy Pelosi, but in my defense she is surprised at everything.
Nine companies have notified customers and the state of Nebraska that they will be leaving the individual market and in some cases the group market once the regulations come into play on Jan 1.

Senate GOP screws you again

 



According to the Hill the Senate Republicans want to offer a plan that would raise the debt limit, and fold completely by funding the Government for a year at Sequestration levels. Notice it says nothing about defunding Obamacare, only removing the medical device tax.

So the AP released a new poll that will tell people what we already know. Nobody in the country likes anybody in Washington. The bad thing is that shockingly in this poll the GOP came out looking like the biggest losers.

In negotiations there is a saying "shoot for the stars and you might get the moon." Basically ask for everything you could dream about and you might be able to end up with close to what you really wanted. Republicans in Congress have never learned this lesson. They shoot for their nuts and typically end up shooting their own feet. Meaning they start out asking for less than they should dream about and end up with only looking spineless with a bloody foot.

The National Park Service has entered its new role of totalitarian enforcement squad with vigor and enthusiasm not normally seen from government employees. After all that is where the phrase "good enough for government work" came from.

Captured AQ leader great news, but why do we know it?

I have read a few places this morning that we captured an AQ leader in Tripoli Libya. That news in and of itself is a great thing. We can interrogate him - turns out no Miranda issued yet - and hopefully get some real intelligence that can be used. That of course is a fallacy.

The ATF knows that the Fast and Furious debacle would be enough to get people arrested in normal times. Of course as we all know now these are not normal times. With Barry throwing temper tantrums over the shut down to make the average Americans life miserable we can all see that life is a touch bit different these days.

I mean once they get through school they have to be able to survive and that's where Common Core comes in. I mean how else can they explain teaching kids about a song called Po Pimp in fourth grade.

No more money after 17 Oct.

In a move that seems oddly reminiscent of the play made during the debt limit fight last December when Treasury forced us to hit the debt limit earlier than expected, they now say that will happen Oct 17th. Forcing Congress to act within 2 weeks of the beginning of the new fiscal year.

Ok, so not really out of money, just not able to borrow any more, we will still have 30 billion or so on hand, plus whatever the government brings in for the month. Anyone else find it odd that right before the debt limit fight comes up news comes out about how we are broke and unable to borrow any more?

Yeah I don't find it odd either. I'm also pretty sure that it is nothing more than pressure applied to Boehner because they know he has no spine.

But I say screw it. Let's hit the debt limit. Let's make it so there is no more borrowing, once the initial screaming dies down we can get down to the problems at hand. The out of control spending. Once there is no money to spend on dumb things and pet projects, priorities get shuffled real quick.

Time to make D.C. learn some new priorities. So screw it, don't pass a debt limit deal. Give them nothing.

I know what your thinking, the tin foil on your head is wrapped a bit too tight today. Loosen up a little bit, watch Cruz lay the smacketh down and have a drink. I assure you I will, but follow me here.

Two seventh grade students were suspended from school because they were playing with guns. Well Mr. Handbook you say, guns are not allowed in schools and should not be played with. True, except we are talking about air soft pellet pistols, and they were in their own yard.

I’m sitting here watching Ted Cruz give his speech on the Senate floor, and Mike Enzi just started asking his question about if there was a better way to have done this than to wait until the last minute. Well Mike yes, yes there was. That sir is not really the issue here, although it is a part of the problem.

So the D.C. Court of Appeals has decided that who the President of the United States meets with is well, none of your damn business. In a decision that contains a level asshatedness not seen since the Obamacare decision, the Appeals Court unanimously decided that the logs of who visits the Oval Office is beyond the reach of the FOIA.

In fact I think anything that prevents Congress from passing any laws for a while might be something worth looking into. Hell I would be willing to pay them more to just go away. But since they wont take that deal I guess we are stuck with them. The least they could do is something worth a damn for once. To that extent thank you, Senator Lee.

God Bless America! Enjoy your Independance Day!

  On this day 237 years ago, 56 men signed a document who, had things gone a touch different, would have been hanged for treason against the crown. These men were willing to pledge to each other their lives, fortunes and sacred honor, in the name of Divine Providence. All for the idea, the belief, that there was a better way. A way forward that prevented the tyranny against the people that they had seen grow so fertile in Europe.

  When Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, it was at it's time the largest slap in the face that all monarchs had ever seen. The concept that no man was more important than any other, the concept that the crown was not, by any idea, a person chosen by God to lead was anathema to every belief held at the time. A concept of self reliance and self government of the people, by the people, and for the people would prove to grow into a world superpower while providing more individual freedom than had ever been seen before.

  Now we seem to be at a turning point in the ideals that our Founding Fathers fought so hard to promote and instill in our country. Daily we find out about new ways the government is eroding our very basic rights that were bestowed upon us by our Creator, and deem thus inalienable. We are quickly finding out that tyranny is a determined enemy and willing to bid it's time waiting for us to lose our focus.

  Constantly we are deprived of liberties and rights in the name of security, or for the greater good. This country was never designed for one man to suffer for another to succeed. Everyone has that equal opportunity to succeed, it is what you do with that opportunity that has made our country great. Our founding principals were never designed for the outcome to be equal, that relied on you and your personal initiative, how hard are you willing to work for it.

   And yet a mere 237 years later here we are, consistently being stripped of our rights. Are we willing to admit that we were willing to give up or freedom for the false sense of security? Will Benjamin Franklin prove right?  Will we falter and fail at this experiment that had never before seen on Earth and allow it to go into the history books as another failed form of government that will eventually devolve into tyranny? Or will we follow our rights and as the Declaration itself says:

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

  The ball, as they say, is in our court. We the People, have given the government it's power through our consent. Are we still willing to consent to our government that which it has decided it has the ability and power to inflict upon us? Or is it time to get excited and prove once again that we will not be subjects, we are THE PEOPLE, and the government answers TO US, not us to them.

  While you are enjoying your independence day with explosives, beer, and bar-b-q, remember why we celebrate today and the men who risked everything to provide us with a country that allows any man to prosper, if he so chooses.

Gun control votes and who will throw the 2nd amendment away.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state; and the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.   (2nd Amendment)

When those words were attached to the Bill of Rights the Founders had a  very specific purpose in mind. It is not a coincidence that it was added second only to the freedom of speech, religion, and ability to assemble peaceably and freely. They understood that without the 2nd Amendment there was really no reason to have the 1st.

Been away but we're back

For the three of you who read this I would like to apologize for the last month of not being here. I did a move from England back to the states and getting all of that done and getting back to a point where I had a chance to sit down and pay attention, much less write something was, well, a bit of a struggle you could say.

So while I was away Sequester went through, the world didn't end, but apparently White House tours did. Not sure how much that saved us but I'm certain that we are on our way to a balanced budget due to that and that alone.

The CR that went through the Senate funded Obamacare, we are 16 trillion in debt, and can't allow people to have a tour of the White House but we can fund a monstrosity that will take up 1/6 of the economy. Yeah that makes sense. To every Republican who voted to fund Obamacare through the CR should be primaried and removed from office. They say that elections have consequences, well to every person currently residing in some cushy government elected office, you should understand that each vote you cast has consequences. If we have to deal with the crap you vote for once you get elected then you are going to have to deal with us. It is that simple.

Before I went away for a while I was one of the people saying that we should allow for sequester to go through. Congrats Republicans you didn't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on that one. I know people say that sequester is going to hurt. I firmly believe that the only people that are going to feel the pain are the military. Which is kind of retarded but, such is life.

Now on to the budget fight.
