The Constitution was written specifically to limit the power of the Federal Government. The 10th Amendment was very specific about this:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people

Colorado sued to stop weed sales tax. 10th Amendment strikes again.
So when the State of Colorado passed a Constitutional Amendment allowing them to legalize the sale of weed, snack vendors and pot heads throughout the state rejoiced. Apparently some of those people selling the weed though, are none to happy about the 29% state and local tax that came with it.

Freedom wins, yet we all lose.
Yesterday, freedom won. Hobby Lobby was able to get a victory on religious grounds, the Unions in Illinois lost, and recently SCOTUS beat back the President on recess appointments. All of these are good things. Great things actually. So how do I get the strongest of feelings that we are all losing?

Rules and a treasure trove of information.
In the Dark Knight, Joker tells Batman that to get the truth he will have to break his one rule. In essence he is telling Batman he would have to kill him to stop him. While Batman ultimately is able to beat the Joker, he still loses.
We as Conservatives have one rule we live by. We refuse to destroy our morals and principals for anything. We understand that while everything goes to hell, the ability to look in the mirror in the morning and not be disgusted with what you see is extremely important. Our problem is we fight those that have no such qualms.

IRS had contract with private firm to back up emails
I say had, because from 2005 to 2011-ish, the IRS contracted out the private firm Sonasoft. So here I am spending my weekend, wondering just how dumb the IRS could be to not be backing up emails and such forth, allowing individual employees to decide what should be kept to incriminate themselves, and lookie what I find on Monday morning.

The IRS lies, Obama golfs.
So I haven't been around much. Sorry, but we here at the Handbook took some time and worked on life and such forth. I really had no intentions of coming back yet, but with everything coming out recently with the IRS and the fact that they obviously have the worst IT department ever, or they have completely given up on even trying to come up with believable excuses lies at this point.

Charles Boustany.. Flag Waiver
I write this as being from LA originally I try to keep up with the goings on there. When one thinks about the type of Republican that should be coming from the State of Louisiana one thinks of the type of Senator that Ted Cruz is, or the type of Congressman Trey Gowdy is. Meaning they obviously have no interest in being someone's friend or following GOP "leadership" just to get along.

Thanks for nothing Paul Ryan
In negotiations there is a saying "shoot for the stars and you might get the moon." Basically ask for everything you could dream about and you might be able to end up with close to what you really wanted. Republicans in Congress have never learned this lesson. They shoot for their nuts and typically end up shooting their own feet. Meaning they start out asking for less than they should dream about and end up with only looking spineless with a bloody foot.

No more money after 17 Oct.
In a move that seems oddly reminiscent of the play made during the debt limit fight last December when Treasury forced us to hit the debt limit earlier than expected, they now say that will happen Oct 17th. Forcing Congress to act within 2 weeks of the beginning of the new fiscal year.
Ok, so not really out of money, just not able to borrow any more, we will still have 30 billion or so on hand, plus whatever the government brings in for the month. Anyone else find it odd that right before the debt limit fight comes up news comes out about how we are broke and unable to borrow any more?
Yeah I don't find it odd either. I'm also pretty sure that it is nothing more than pressure applied to Boehner because they know he has no spine.
But I say screw it. Let's hit the debt limit. Let's make it so there is no more borrowing, once the initial screaming dies down we can get down to the problems at hand. The out of control spending. Once there is no money to spend on dumb things and pet projects, priorities get shuffled real quick.
Time to make D.C. learn some new priorities. So screw it, don't pass a debt limit deal. Give them nothing.

Is Obama squirming over sequestration?
On Jan 1st Congress and Obama made a deal that push sequestration back to March 1st. In that Obama was able to get his tax increases that he wanted on the "wealthiest Americans", and apparently the GOP managed to screw up and paint him into a corner. That is the only thing that can explain why Obama is all of a sudden willing to do a short term extension of cuts to put off sequestration for a few more months.
The fact that something the GOP did actually might work, is well, shocking. Don't think I'm going all soft on them though. Like I said, I'm pretty sure this was something they lucked into.

Does the No budget No pay bill really make a difference?
I ask this in all seriousness. The House passing the bill is a good step I think, but where does it really get us? It allows Obama to continue his reckless spending until April at the earliest and only means that the Senate has to do the job that the Constitution requires them to do already. So again I ask does this really make a difference?

The Debt Limit is the right fight, but is only the beginning.
I have been reading a lot of things today about how people out there are thinking that we should not have the fight on the debt limit because it is as they say "the wrong fight". People like Newt Gingrich think that we should wait and fight in March at the end of the CR and allow the debt limit to raise now and make the rest of the spending official in March with an actual budget. As if the Senate will actually pass one of those. HAHAHA

Did Treasury force us to hit the debt limit during fiscal cliff debate?
Earlier I spoke about how it seemed kind of odd that throughout the year the Treasury kept telling us that we would make it until Feb before the debt limit was reached. Then magically on Dec 31 we hit the debt ceiling. Turns out we hit it on that date because Timothy Geithner forced us to hit it on that date.
According to CNSNews it turns out that we borrowed $95.953 billion that we didn't even need. Why because that amount raised our debt from $16.298022 trillion to 16.393975 trillion with the debt limit being at $16.394 trillion.

Wal Mart caving to the gun nuts.
According to Liberty News, Wal Mart is suspending the ordering of any new ammunition until D.C. decides on what asinine new encroachments they want to put on our 2nd Amendment rights.
“As of right now WalMart is not going to be making any new orders of ammo because of the upcoming decision on the Second Amendment. As of right now we are unsure of what new legislation might be coming, and because of this, we are suspending new orders."

Great News: 16.4 Trillion debt ceiling to be hit Dec 31
According to the math whiz that runs the Treasury Department, we will hit the debt ceiling sooner than we expected. Don't worry though through some accounting gimmicks he can make us reach Feb. Maybe.
Some how the guy who couldn't figure out turbo tax can figure out to the day we will run out of money. Something smells fishy here. So at the same time that Obama wants a removal of the Debt Ceiling and at a very least wants a clean increase for the next few years, all of a sudden all those predictions to hit the ceiling come Feb were wrong. You mean to tell me the Federal Government can't add? Shocked I tell you. Shocked!
Well now lets look at the budget and help Turbo Tax Timmy find some more money. All totals from the 2013 proposed budget from Obama.

We allowed this to happen now deal with it.
I have been trying to figure out what I wanted this post to say for a few days. Today it struck me as to what it was that I wanted to say. I have been reading that people think that the Conservative caucus of the Republican House screwed everything up by throwing a "Tantrum" and making sure that Plan B failed. Some people believe that by doing this we are going to be stuck with God knows what kind of deal that is going to screw us over in the long run.
Here's a news flash for you. Plan B was that plan that was going to screw us over, and it wasn't even going to wait for the long run. It was going to screw us over right from the beginning, but people are so afraid of the fiscal cliff that they don't want to believe that. They seem to believe that Congress is actually concerned with doing something that is logical and would actually be a step in the right direction for the country. If that were the case the Sandy relief fund wouldn't be 60 billion with only 11 billion going to Sandy victims and most of the money not being spent until 2015.

Screw the Fiscal Cliff
Let me start by saying that we should never have been put into this position to begin with. The fact that Congress felt this was a good plan shows just how stupid they really are. Don't worry they tell us though, we're going to fix it before we actually have to enact all of this stuff. Excuse me if I'm not holding my breath.

Romney says Obamacare not a Tax and McConnel already squirming his way out of repeal.
Romney's problem stems from the fact that if he goes after Obamacare, Obama will come after him about Romneycare in Mass. So in an effort to try to walk a very fine line and not piss anyone off, he instead pisses everyone off. Well everyone that matters anyway.
McConnells problem is the same as John Boehner's, he has no spine, none, the man is a damn jellyfish. If he had a spine, we wouldn't even have Obamacare, and the debt ceiling debacle would have ended completely differently. If Boehner had a spine we wouldn't have had the Transportation-HUD bill pass recently as a combination bill so that he could get on vacation.

AG Holder Found in Contempt
Now the question becomes can Boehner keep his spine long enough to let the floor vote happen next week? I give it 50/50.
With the stonewalling finally reaching a boiling point after Congress finally tired of asking Holder and the DOJ to produce the documents relating to Fast and Furious they finally got the contempt vote completed this afternoon. Personally this should have happened about 5 minutes after he blatantly lied to Congress months ago, but I guess better late than never.
So how does this hurt Obama, can this be tied around his neck like an anchor? When does the process start with the courts to remove the Executive Privilege claim?
So much more to come.
New slogan for Obama this year:
Obama 2012, you don't need to know.

Obama Exerts Executive Privilege on F&F Docs.. Move along, Nothing to see here.
I saw the breaking news while I was at work this afternoon. (I'm in England, remember.) Obama had granted Holder's request for Executive privilege on the 2300 pages that the House Oversight committee had been asking for since well forever.
Since Holder's power point presentation didn't sway over Issa last night, and the vote for contempt was still going forward today Holder went begging to his boss for a favor. A favor Obama was more than willing to issue. Because of this Congress now has to contest Executive Privilege on all these documents so that we can find out just how deep into this Eric Holder or other members of the DOJ were involved.
